Gamli Baukur
Gamli Baukur is one of HúsavÃk’s most popular restaurants. The restaurant was established in 1998 and serves fresh seafood from HúsavÃk. There is also a selection of meat dishes and hors-d’oeuvre.
The name of the restaurant comes from an old house, built in 1843 as a residence for Vigfús Schulsen, the district magisstrate in HúsavÃk. Old Gamli Baukur served as a restaurant from 1884 to 1904 and again as a private residence until 1960 when it burnt down in a fire. The rebuilt Gamli Baukur, built in 1997, is located just opposite HúsavÃk harbour. While dineing at Gamli Baukur, you are likely to catch a glimpse of the local fishermen bringing in the catch of the day.
