Akureyri Art Museum

Akureyri Art Museum was founded in 1993 and is one of the youngest art museums in Iceland. Despite its short history, the museum has shown some of the most progressive artists in Iceland as well as internationally acknowledged artists, such as Matthew Barney, Spencer Tunick, Andrew Rogers, Rembrandt, Goya, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Per Kirkeby, the Boyle Family and many more.

Icelandic artists that have had their work displayed in the museum include Kjarval, Erró, Tryggvi Ólafsson, Georg Guðni and Louisa Matthíasdóttir.

The museum is located in the heart of Akureyri, surrounded by smaller galleries and restaurants. Catalogues and books, published by the museum in conjunction with its exhibitions are available at the museum.
