Whale watching in Husavik, Iceland

Whale watching has become one of Iceland’s most popular tourist activities and Húsavík is deservedly its capital. Spotting success rates are higher in Húsavík than anywhere else in Iceland – with whales being spotted in more than 98% of all tours. You’re more or less guaranteed a sighting of the small minke whales, and there’s a good chance you’ll see the nobly snouts and classic tail-flukes of humpback whales too. If the conditions are right, you may even be lucky enough to spot fin whales, sei whales and orcas.

When you are back on dry land, don’t forget to visit the Húsavík Whale Museum, located by the harbour, for better understanding of these great sea creatures.
