Think green: Bring your old electronics in for recycling

By Örlygur Hnefill | April 23, 2010 | 2 Comments

Now you can bring your old mobile telephones, laptops and other electronics in for recycling at Öryggi electronics store in Husavik, and at the same time support the local football team Völsungur. Öryggi electronics and Völsungur have made a deal with Green Future in Reykjavik, that specializes in recycling of electronics from companies and individuals all over Iceland. All the old electronics that are collected in Husavik are sold to recycling and the profit goes to build up the football club. Bjartmar Alexandersson at Green Future says that the goal of the operation is to reduce the amount of electronics disposed at waste dumps. “We help people and companies to dispose of electronics in an environmentally friendly manner and thereby induce the reutilization and recycling of the equipment through our partner companies around the world.”
